Atlas Ramachandran sentenced to three years in jail

Group chairman in police custody for cases related to Dh53 million in bounced cheques

Dubai, Nov 12 (Emirates|24x7): Atlas Group Chairman MM Ramachandran has been sentenced to three years in jail by the Dubai Misdemeanor Court.

Ramachandran was in police custody for cases related to Dh53 million in bounced cheques, according to Dubai Police.

The defendant's lawyer refused to make a comment after the judgement was issued by the court this morning.

Ramachandran's wife attended the hearing and was present inside the court when the judgement was pronounced. She broke down completely and was seen weeping outside the court premises after the verdict was issued.

Late last month, Atlas Group had announced that it has entered into a financial deal with UAE-based investment firm Maas Group to raise funds.

The equity from Maas will go into the Atlas Group-owned businesses in the UAE and its healthcare facility in Oman.

As per the group website, there are about 18 outlets across the GCC excluding the UAE.

In the UAE, Atlas has about 20 outlets including 12 across Dubai. However, not all outlets in the UAE are fully operational.

NOW no one believe Atlas is "JANAKOTIGALUDE VISWASTHA STHAPANA". When this owner keep on telling this in the ad I had a doubt about his intention. He thought, he could make true by telling a lie 100 times. The result is jail term.

This is the end result of going overboard and 'leveraging' to grow up fast!!

If same such rules would have been implemented in India most big businessmen (white collar thugs) who have willingly defaulted banks, financial institutions of thousands of crores would be rotting in jail!!

'White collar thuggery' should be elevated to the level of 'mass murder' as it robs the 'sweat money' of thousands of crores of innocent taxpayers from the system, which otherwise could have been used to service the common man!!

I have been cheated by three people with huge amounts by giving ded cheques and they easily ran away without any guilt, even if they caught spend some years in jail and again start with new life but who ever lost, they will not gain nothing... that's the reason we have life after death where god will give them rewards for their crookedness and for those who lost everything here will gain there inshaallah..

It seems from his appearance and his smile that he is happy to be sentenced for three years in jail rather than brooding inside the room. Now he is relieved person. For such people three years is not enough, should have been life term imprisonment.Because they have looted and cheated. They got no right to live in this world.Shame less and greedy people.Money is everything for these people. They want only money by hook or crook.

Your comment look like childish. Do you really carry a bit of sense with respect to pic?

This pic of him is of his happy days but not of today's.

Donot comment when you carry no knowledge of something.

With respect to his punishment, if he is defaulter than no respite than being punished.

In India after punishment for his crime and he will get bail before his punishment or he will come out after his punishment. In UAE he will be inside without bail for 3 years for cheating and he will come out only if you pay the money he cheated.
