Bangalore, Sep 18: Lokayukta police on Monday arrested an assistant public prosecutor (APP) while accepting bribe from a client for an accident case.

According to the police, S S Khaji, a senior APP at the 3rd Metropolitan Magistrate Traffic Court, Bangalore, demanded Rs 2000 bribe from Nita Parashuram of RMV Extension for presenting an accident case registered against her.

Nita, in turn, approached the Lokayukta and lodged a complaint against Khaji.

Acting on the complaint, Lokayukta police cought Khaji red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from the complainant, said a release.

In another incident, Lokayukta police trapped an excise inspector and his assistant while accepting Rs 15,000 from a bar owner in Laggere.

Huchegowda, the excise inspector at Nandini Range, and his assistant Babu had been demanding Rs 1 lakh from Raju, a bar owner in Laggere.

The accused were also said to have threatened Raju that the bar would be closed if he failed to oblige. When their pressure increased, Raju lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta.

Lokayukta police laid a trap and arrested both red-handed while accepting the bribe, a release said.
