Mangalore Sep 18:  All devotees have been requested to take additional care while immersing Ganesha idols by the Shri Mahamayee Temple, Car street administrative board, informed a press release here from the board. The temple board in the release enumerated certain guidelines to be followed by devotees while immersing the idols, as part of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.

This caution has been given by the board to the devotees, as throngs of devotees assemble near the temple lake for idol immersion and hence the board in its collective wisdom opines that additional care is required this year, as the water level of the lake is high owing to good rainfall.

Further the press release stated that the water level in the lake is high and hence devotees must immerse the idols from west to east standing on the steps which has been built around the temple lake and have cautioned against stepping deeper into the water, as the surface of the stones under the water are slippery, which can have serious consequences.

Moreover in-order to maintain the purity of water, the Board has urged devotees to avoid immersing the idol with flower garlands, apart from garlands made of ‘tulsi’ basil leaves. The devotees are required to inform the temple authorities two days in advance about the immersion of their idols and receive the receipt and produce the same on the day of the immersion, the release informed.
