Beltangady, Sep 19: A college student drowned while crossing heavily flooded Phalguni River at Gunduri on Monday, September 17.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh (19), son of Sadhoo. Ramesh was studying in Mahaveer Pre-University College, Moodbidri.
The incident occurred when he was on his way to the college along with his friend, as he was crossing the river.
The Venur police, fire brigade personnel and locals have been engaged in the task of tracing the body of Ramesh, but there was no success until Tuesday evening.
Late reports on Tuesday said that some expert divers and swimmers from Mangalore have been called in to join the rest in the search.
