Sullia: BJP activists celebrate victory - cause fire accident, loss

Sullia, Feb 26: During the victory celebrations by BJP activists, a stack of hay sheaves belonging to a local named Kudekallu Manmatha at Kudekallu Myndoor in Aletty village in the taluk turned into ashes. Relating to the incident, complaint against several BJP activists including former taluk panchayat president was filed.

A crowd of BJP activists, elated at the success of the party in the zilla and taluk panchayat elections in the taluk, were celebrating the victory. It is said that they shouted slogans and ignited fire crackers near Manmatha's house. Sparks from this fire flew to the stack of hay, causing it to burn down.

Relating to the incident, a complaint stands filed in the police station here. Former taluk panchayat president, Jayaprakash Kundadka, has been one of the six persons named therein.
