M'luru: Lord Powell’s birth anniv ‘Thinking Day’ held at St APS

Mangaluru, Mar 3: The birth anniversary of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of World Scout's and Guides' was organized as ‘Thinking Day’ at St Aloysius Primary School on Thursday March 3.

District chief commissioner of Bharat scouts and guides, NG Mohan inaugurated the programme.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In his inaugural address, Mohan said, “In Karnataka the first school to start the Bharat scouts and guides branch in the state was St Aloysius School in Bengaluru back in 1931. The organization now has grown into a mammoth tree across the state and has produced many youth serving the country.”

“I call upon all the parents to send their children to this noble organization. I have heard from many parents that children after joining this organization become self reliant and do their day-to-today deeds with discipline.”

The district organizational commissioner of Bharat scouts and guides Chandrakala explained the importance of the day.

“This day is celebrated as the ‘Thinking Day’ worldwide to commemorate the birthday of Lord Baden Powell, the founder of World Scout's and Guides' organization. He showed the whole world how the youth and the children can be used for the betterment of the society.”

“To contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, to help build a better world where people are self-reliant as individuals and play a constructive role in society' is the motive of the organization. Today Bharat Scouts and Guides has become a nationally acclaimed organization. I call upon the scouts and the guides to uphold the values of the organization and do good for the society,” she said.

The dignitaries also offered a floral tribute to the portrait of Lord Baden Powell prior to the formal programme.

Student, Rupith D'souza who participated in the republic day parade was honoured on the occasion. The scout's who passed the various examinations in the organization were given the badges on the occasion.

School Correspondent Fr Eric Mathias, head mistress of the school, Philomena Louis and district scout commissioner Ramashesha Shetty were present.
