'Russia may fail to prepare hotels in time for 2018 World Cup'

St. Petersburg (Russia), March 20 (IANS): Several Russian cities may fail to prepare hotel infrastructure for the 2018 football World Cup, Lana Kluyeva, a representative of the Match Accommodation agency, has said.

"A number of cities have some problems with the accommodation," she said on Saturday, adding that these cities are Kaliningrad, Rostov, Samara and Saransk, reports Tass.

Vadim Prasov, deputy head of the Russian Association of Caterers and Hoteliers, said the complications can be linked to investments.

"Some investors give up their plans or fail to fulfill obligations," he said on Saturday.

The matches of the 2018 World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums located in 11 cities across Russia. Two of the stadiums are located in the Russian capital.
