Mangalore, Oct 5: Two high school girls were injured when a tipper hit them near Kolya here on Thursday October 4 morning.  The accident occurred when tipper driver was trying to avoid a possible collision with a speeding private bus.

The injured have been identified as Chaitra (15) and Navya (15).  They were on their way to school, when the private bus plying from the city to Kasargod, dangerously tried to overtake a tipper.  The tipper driver, in a bid to avert the collision tried to maneuver the vehicle, driving on the edge of the road. 

But he did notice two school-going girls who were walking beside the road.  As a result he hit them.  The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where they are recovering now.

Meanwhile a few angry locals pelted stones at another bus which was coming to the city and damaged the bus.  However, before the situation could went out of hand, police managed to intervene and control.

The Ullal police have registered case in this regard.
