While finite series and time leaps have become the order of the day in Indian Television, thanks to the TRP game; Sony TV's 18-year-old show CID is unaffected with its almost two-decade continuous run.

But now the show might see a new storyline and three new faces, according to sources. Also, three of its actors--Hrishikesh Pandey, Tanya Abrol and Abhay Shukla are on their way out. The actors are ending their association with the show because they feel their characters are underutilised and that the show revolves around the three main cops.

"This is my eighth year. While the character showed immense potential in the beginning, I am not happy with my graph since the last three years. I have not been seen much on the show and there is nothing left for me to explore. It's better to move on and take up daily soaps," Hrishikesh told TOI.

CID premiered on January 21, 1998 and is considered the longest Indian TV series so far. ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam), Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava) and Daya (Dayanand Shetty) are three of the main characters on the show.

Around 12 years back, CID set a record on November 7, 2004, when its producer BP Singh entered the Limca Book of Records and Guinness Book of World Records for filming an entire episode in a single shot of 111 minutes without a cut.
