Udupi, Apr 13: A gang of youngsters stealing milk crates kept by the roadside regularly and causing losses to local milk vendors has been caught on CCTV. The footage has been made exclusively available to daijiworld.

The gang of youths that used to steal trays containing several litres of milk, sachets of curds etc in the early morning has been captured on camera. Since about a month, these items were stolen from Madhwanagar, Ambagilu, and some other places.

Trays containing milk, Lassi, curds etc were offloaded by distribution vehicle in front of the milk distribution stall at Madhwanagar at around 2 am everyday. By the time the milk vendor came, several litres of these items were found to be regularly going missing. Worried over constant losses, owner of the stall, Jagadish, arranged to fit CCTV cameras.

The CCTV camera footage shows that four young men were involved with this theft. One of them was caught carrying the trays. Two men were also seen carrying milk sachets from the trays kept outside the milk booth at Madhwanagara here.

When Jagadish, owner of the Madhwanagara outlet went to Malpe police station to complain, the policemen said that there was no provision to register theft of milk sachets. They sent him back after collecting oral information.

Jagadish has expressed doubts about the involvement of a local electrician named Manju. When the police went to the house of Manju to question him, his family members said he had gone to Davanagere. Jagadish claims that Manju regularly stole milk and poured it on the coolies from north Karnataka who sleep at Adi Udupi bus stand. Jagadish estimates that he has lost about Rs 8,000 through these thefts. CCTV footage has also found similar activity having been undertaken at Ambagilu milk outlet.

'Jagadish claims that Manju regularly stole milk and poured it on the coolies from north Karnataka who sleep at Adi Udupi bus stand"
Whether he was pouring to disturb or pouring in their mouths? If that's the case, a good deed.

Isn't there any health safety monitoring at all ? The crates filled with milk sachets are left on the roadside whether its summer, rainy or winter season. Most of them are unsold even until 11 am, and they lie in the open without any refrigeration, since their off-loading.

I'm wondering at the hazardous practices that are taking place !

No baba ...company vehicles unload milk product ordered by the store, infront of the store,in early morning, and this will be delivered or sold to customers in morning itself by the shop owners..after opening shop.

    Mr. Hegde,

I reside right in the middle of a city, not in the Himalayas. I witness daily ordeal of these sachets. Even if you go at 2 pm to the shop that sells milk, the crates remain in the sun (though this is the second delivery).

If it is true, what a maniac is this Jagdish ? If he had used the stolen milk in his house or sold it to make an income out of it, it won't be surprising but why pour it on coolies ?

If at all he wanted to evade them sleeping in the us stand, he could have used water - why milk ?

We Indians have a lot to learn as regards to honesty. I've read that a bag of valuables left behind in a train in Japan remained at the same spot though the train had made two/three up/down rounds. In India, this is a dream, will never be a reality !

If the milk is flowing for 24 hours, then send it to Lathur, where public is suffering....Show some mercy on others also, like you mentioned that 2000 RSS are donating blood for the Kerala tragedy....Highly appreciable.....If you go back in the history of Gujrat earth quake, you will read that hundreds of Muslim youths donated blood to save the lives of their hindu friends in the village after the Quake....
