Child locked inside by mistake - rescued from car after 45 minutes

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Apr 16: In an incident which occurred in the town area here on Friday April 15, a car with a child inside got centrally locked by mistake. After 45 minutes during which period anxiety and tension prevailed, the child was rescued by breaking open the windshield.

The incident occurred on main road a little away from the bus stand here. A person who came in a car with his child, stopped the car opposite a mall and got out. As he realized that the car had not been locked, he locked it immediately by pressing the front door button. But he had failed to notice that the car engine was on, car key remained in its hole inside, and the child that was in slumber, was also inside the car.

As the car key was inside, there was no possibility of opening of the car, all the doors of which had got centrally locked. Thankfully, the air-conditioner was on, and hence, the child had no difficulty breathing. A large number of people soon gathered there, and a mechanic was summoned. Although the mechanic suggested that turning the battery to off position might cause the doors to open, the car owner dithered from following this suggestion, as he was apprehensive that air-conditioner might stop working and the breathing of the child might be affected. The child in the meantime, woke out of its slumber, and became restless.

At the end, one of the rear windshields were broken and the child was taken out, bringing a sense of relief to everyone present.

Whatever the reason is, this is a serious offence in countries like U.S.A. where the person concerned is arrested for negligence and a case filed against him. In any case it is a great relief that the child in this case is safe.

Air conditioners dont help breathing it only recirculates air inside unless the external damper is opened. So if u leave a child in an air condituoned car with no external air it cud soon asphaxiate

Yes yes,it can happen only to men.Forgetting wife or child at tank Station,or child and driving off.and more technic, more Problems with it .Of course more comfort is offered and more complications where you dont have facility to solve. Many times we heard here when they were on the Highways driving, had to stop to tank, and after tanking, and paying(self tanking System)just get in and drive away without thinking if someone missing or ok is.During tanking, wife or child getsout to go to toilet ,or to take some fresh air.He realizes later why everything is still, realizes he had forgotten either child or wife.It happened.but mostly informed Police help them to unite.sometimes doors get locked with brise and key is inside, many times helps to a credit Card through door edges where lock is brought up.Try next time this trick when your car gets locked.

I personally experienced the same a few years back in Bahrain. Went for shopping with my then 2yo daughter and the door was locked by her unknowingly, while I went to keep back the shopping cart.

The supermarket security came for rescue, they had to break quarter glass of backseat and open door. I cant even explain the anxiety I had been through for that 30 minutes. More to this The security had to call police as per their policy, and they warned me of negligence.

A same incident happened a couple of months back near kadri park. A man got down and locked the car, but he forgot its key inside. No one was there inside the car. They got a local mechanic from nearby garage. He came with a metal scale in his hand and ed it between the gap of the glass and within seconds he opened the door with a trick. No breaking of glass nothing.

Not all car mechanism are same, some car locks can be accessed easily through metal scale through door gap. But new model cars door locks are hidden from accessing to avid easy theft.

In the modern cars the central locking system,The doors can not lock unless you put off the engine and bring the keys outside the car. This is more safe.Mostly all German cars have this system.

I was traveling with my friend with his new Hyundai elantra. In Mulki when we returned after having a tea, it was found that the key was left inside. He called the service centre, the technician said he will reach in an hour.
A near by garage worker came to our help, he opened the door just with a thin metal ruler.
Now you can take back your words if you are a gentleman or eat your words!
