Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 19: Kiran Singh (45), a Delhi-based woman working as a volunteer for an Ashram here was found murdered on the night of Tuesday May 17.

The housemaid who came to Singh's home on Wednesday morning found the main door wide open. She went inside and noticed that Kiran's limbs had been bound before she was done to death. She was bound with the help of veils found inside her home, and then smothered.

In all possibility, people known to the woman were behind this murder. Enmity or personal benefit could be the purpose behind the murder, the police believe. It is almost certain that more than one person was involved in this grisly act.

North east deputy police commissioner, Dr Harsha, who visited the spot and conducted inspection, confirmed that none of the things inside the house were burgled.

Kiran lived alone in a house located beside a mango plantation at Chikkagubbi, Kothanur here. She was deep into spiritual practices and worked as a volunteer for an NGO named Manasa Trust located near her home. Fingerprint experts and sniffer dog surveyed the area. A case of murder was registered at Kothanur police station.

It is gathered that Kiran worked in the human resources department of a number of airline companies in the past. As she could not conceive for long, there was a fight between her and her husband, resulting in divorce. She had come to the city five years back, after which she had been fully engrossed in spiritual practices.
