Mangalore: Comfortable Drive on Shirady Ghat from April ‘08

Mangalore, Nov 16: The repairs on National Highway (NH) 48, running between the city and Bangalore, passing through sections of Shirady Ghat, has already commenced by NH authorities while it is expected to finish the work, by the end of March 2008, informed NH executive engineer, S Gopal, here on Thursday November 15. 

The works on the stretch of 30 kilometers of NH which passes through most treacherous terrain at Shirady has already been undertaken.  The tenders are called to undertake the works on rest of the stretch of NH, while it is expected to get the approval from government by Monday November 19, elaborated Gopal.

The survey on converting the existing two lanes of NH 48 into four lanes from Hassan to B C Road, has already under progress, he explained.

    when there is a will there is a way!!!!!!, this has been proved. but it is really a surprise as to how fast this has been achieved and how long the road will last? any guessess????

    I do not think it will be so early. Some newspaper report that Mine lorries are bribing Officials near Hassan and disturbing repair works in shiradi Ghat. Who will put curbs on them? Has Nelamangala-Hassan four lane work started?
