Kolar, Jul 17: In a strange incident, some subordinate staff of Bethamangala police station in the district sent a resignation letter drafted in the name of sub-inspector of the station, B T Govindu, to the director general of police. As per information, some serving constables and some past constables of Bethamangala station were involved with this weird act.
As per information, there were differences between constables working in this station since several years and Govindu, who was posted here just two years back. The constables had grudge over some issues like non-sanction of leave, entrusting them work they abhor, and harassing the staff on the basis of caste. It is said that the sub-inspector had reported several incidents of indiscipline and wrongdoings on their part to higher ups, resulting in disciplinary action against them. It is being claimed that he had also played a major role in the general transfers of constables done about two weeks back.
As per reports, constable gained access to a document on which police sub-inspector, Govindu, had signed. It is said that they cut off the signature portion, typed a letter of resignation in computer in the name of Govindu. In the letter, it was stated that senior officers including Kolar district superintendent of police and politicians were harassing him, and that he was unable to work because of depression caused by these things. They then pasted the cut off signature portion to this letter, took out a xerox copy of the letter, and sent it to the director general of police.
The top brass in the police department, which is already in quandary over a spate of controversial happenings, was surprised at this resignation letter. They summoned B T Govindu to Bengaluru and questioned him. Govindu was surprised at the fact that his own resignation letter had been submitted without his knowledge. He expressed suspicion that his own staff would have been behind this mischief, duly confirming that he was not suffering harassment from anyone.
Govindu is likely to officially request higher officials in the department to take steps against those who were behind this act.
