Argentine Daniel 'Cata' Diaz returns to Getafe


Madrid, July 23 (IANS): Getafe announced on Saturday that Argentine defender Daniel 'Cata' Diaz, who played the last three years for Boca Juniors, has returned to La Liga to join the Spanish team for one football season.

Cata, who played between 2007 and 2012 for Getafe, signed a one-season contract with an option to extend for another and will undergo a medical exam, reports Efe.

The Argentine, 37, played 199 matches with Getafe, in which he scored four goals, in addition to appearing in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals and the Copa del Rey final in 2008.

Cata moved to Atletico Madrid in 2012, when he won Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup in the 2012/13 season.
