Mustafizur goes wicketless, Sussex lose to Surrey

London, July 23 (IANS): Sussex Sharks have suffered a heavy six-wicket defeat at the hands of Surrey in the NatWest T20 Blast cricket tournament with Bangladesh medium pacer Mustafizur Rahman remaining wicketless.

The 20-year-old seamer gave away an uncharacteristic 31 runs from 3.2 overs as Surrey chased down the total of 153/6 posted by Sussex at Kennington Oval, reported bdnews24.com on Saturday.

At least 500 Bangladeshis turned up among a capacity crowd of about 24,500 to cheer youngster Mustafizur but they left disappointed.

Stroking three boundaries in the first three balls of the innings, opener Jason Roy cracked 36 off 25 balls to give Surrey a brisk start.

Dominic Sibley then capitalised on the strong base and scored 40 off 31 balls to take his team closer before Ben Foakes (22) and Chris Morris (20) sauntered off to target.

Earlier Craig Cachopa (45) and Chris Nash (39) helped Sussex post in excess of 150.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Cachopa smashed seven boundaries in his 34-ball innings.

Jade Dernbach and Morris bagged a couple of wickets each for Surrey.
