Dengue kills four in Vietnam

Hanoi, Aug 1 (IANS): At least four persons were killed due to dengue fever in Vietnam's Central Highlands in the first seven months of 2016, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology said on Monday.

Across the region, the number of patients of dengue fever has risen to 6,038, a 15-fold increase over the same period of 2015, as the weather helped the growth of mosquitoes carrying dengue virus, Xinhua news agency cited from Vietnam news agency.

In the seven-month period, some 44,900 cases of dengue fever were reported all over Vietnam, according to Vietnam's General Statistics Office.
