Udupi, Sep 22: “The curiosity to comprehend should increase among students. Studies will be effective when students open up to observing the rural life and society. They should indulge in extracurricular activities together with academics,” said Mangaluru University vice-chancellor Professor K Byrappa. 

He was speaking after inaugurating Vishalakshi B Hegde complex of B B Hegde First Grade College, Kundapur.

“Students should make good use of the library. They should develop reading as a hobby and should read the life history of famous achievers. It will provide inspiration to the future generation,” he said.

Canara Bank Mangaluru zonal general manager K Viroopaksha unveiled the annual college magazine  'Shikhara 2015-16' on the occasion. Kundapur education society member Vinatha P Rai inaugurated the computer lab. Kundapur education society president B M Sukumar Shetty presided over the programme.

Compensation to the family of third year B Com student late Raghavendra Shetty who had died in an accident was handed over on the occasion. Kundapur education society secretary Seetharama Nakkathaya, joint secretary Sudhakar Shetty and member Anil Chatra were present.

Commerce lecturer Vigneshwar Rao welcomed. Principal Professor Doma Chandrashekar gave a key note address. Commerce lecturer Avitha Corea introduced the official who inaugurated the programme. Nanda Rai introduced Vinatha P Rai and family.  'Shikhara' managing editor and head of the Kannada department, gave details of annual college magazine. English lecturer Anitha D'Souza compered the programme. Spoorthi S Fernandes, head of the department of English proposed vote of thanks.
