Maha govt to introduce ambulance services for ailing animals

Oct 4 (Mumbai Mirror): Maharashtra government is planning to introduce ambulance services in the state for ailing animals to ferry them to hospitals.

The government is planning to approach the Centre for providing funds for this project, state's Animal Husbandry Minister Mahadev Jankar said, adding a separate control room would be established in Mantralaya, the state secretariat, to monitor the services.

Jankar, who was in national capital today, said the government would also be taking help of NGOs for the project.

"With the rising demand of health care for animals, a decision to start two new veterinary colleges will soon be taken.

"Farmers have to often face nature's fury, hereby affecting their yield and in turn shattering their hopes.

There is also need to open centers that can impart training to farmers in animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries as an alternative source of income," he said.
