This is a criminal assault by a student on the Principal. The law and the University authorities should deal with him sternly.

If he is forgiven it will set a bad example to the institution and incidents like this may recurr on a daily basis. The respected principal may forgive him personally....but the punishment must be upheld as per the rules and regulations of the institution. Was he not aware his actions would lead to dire consequences?

The Pope forgave his assassin and visited him in jail. Likewise this student can ask for forgiveness and pardon from the Principal. I'm sure this should work. After all Christianity is a religion of peace, harmony and forgiveness. Even murderers / adulterers are forgiven in Christianity. Since Christmas is close by I pray that this matter will be closed. Let us not condemn anyone. God is above to judge us all.

Mr.Braggs, should this boy be condemned to death ?

I am amazed that educated Christian people comment like this.

Whatever happened in Milagres College was sad and bad. "It takes two hands to clap".

Let us forgive and pardon this boy. He has a better and brighter future ahead of him. He will repent by himself.

The commentators here should desist from sending this boy to the gallows.

I wonder who advised the Principal to admit himself in hospital. There was not a scratch on him nor did he bleed a of blood. This drama was uncalled for.

    Well done police.

First of all, police has to investigate who are the people are behind Mohammed, to attack the Principal of the College.

If he has acted alone due to imbalance of mind on that particular moment, then, the boy may require counseling.

If he had pre meditated to harm the principal and as per some report, he had arranged 4 accomplishers to ute to harm the Principal, then it is really a serious matter and stern action is required, not only against Mohammed, but also all his accomplishers.

Hope, this is also eye opening to the management, as they should not give seats to students without pre qualifying in their disciplinary prerequisite system.

Also the management also should be double careful, while taking any decisions. Staffs & lecturers opinion always should take into consideration. This might be the side effect of management sidelining the lecturers and staff.

Hope the boy will repent and in future no student to dare to decide to harm the Principal and Principal also will take all the lecturers/staff opinion & he will not be one man show in implementing rules.

Hope, this is also eye opening to the management, as they should not give seats to students without pre qualifying in their disciplinary prerequisite system.
    - This is ridiculous.

Also the management also should be double careful, while taking any decisions. Staffs & lecturers opinion always should take into consideration. This might be the side effect of management sidelining the lecturers and staff.

I have a good suggestion for this ill fated arrested student for pardoning from Rev., Fr., Michael Santhumayor

    1) The student should ask apology in front of the Principal in the assembly of all the students of the college.

    2) Take an apology letter from Mohammed Shahanawaz for his blunders deed. His parents should also sign as guarantors.

    3) Issue him T.C., and he can continue his studies anywhere he wanted but not in Milagris College.

But, he should surely be punished. With the permission of his parents, let his do the cleaning work at the school for one week. If he is not ready to do this, please ask his parents to take him to some other school, he does not deserve to study in such a reputed institution.

You might have missed some comments stating that the guy might be a terrorist or implying the same without mentioning the same.

Such incidents(assaulting) do happen, but they are not blown out of proportion. I do agree that these type of assaults should not happen in the future, but how can such assaults stop when we have a culture of assaulting first and asking questions later. People have to realise that physical assaults in general should not happen. But they do happen. How many times have you read about teachers assaulting students. Did anyone this issue. How many times do we hear police assaulting people who have done nothing wrong. Even if a people has done something wrong no one has the right to assault them. Even if the victim of physical assault is a well respected person in the society or a beggar on the street the assailant needs to be punished.

All i am asking is for people to show little consistency regarding what they are outraged about.

Hahaha. Foolish boy, had to be arrested but why after so many pleadings? Why was it not actioned the moment FIR was raised? Although large population criticized the attack, few jokers tried politicizing the issue as always. How many so called politicians came forward supporting the good cause? Wake-up guys, crime has to be treated only as a crime and nothing else. Hats-off to all the protestors for appealing an serious issue peacefully Christians are after-all known for this but tested often. In my opinion, the boy needs to be rusticated without reluctance and his TC withheld until he publicly apologizes. Beating an Elder - a Teacher - a Priest is highly condemnable for whatsoever reason. Father Santhumayor will forgive in Christian faith but must leave action to the management.

If he had repented he would have surrendered himself long back, not tried to run away. This is nothing but arrogance on his part. May be parents also have their hand in protecting his deeds!

Putting him in jail will not solve the problem, I will only make the situation worse, He should be punished there is no doubt about it. Let it be according to the law of the land. He is young and stupid a lot aggresive. Action taken in anger are sometimes regreatfull. He should be shown the right path. dont brand him as a criminal.

I feel he is over arrogant n proudy. He is rowdy..His behaviour as seen in video footage is deplorable..Police must invoke goonda act on him.Judge shouldnt grant him bail. No lawyer shud fight his case..Parenting n upbringing has terribly gone wrong...He has assaulted the teacher from the college which gives him education..it wont be surprising if he beats his parents n torches his own house..Every parent n every student must condemn his act n stand united behind the principal n the college...Must be debarred for 5 years from any Indian universities..both in regular n extrrnal courses..

We have no objection if he continues his studies either in Aligarh University or Osmania University. Should not allow him in any christian instutions or gurukuls to continue. Initially we have seen what happened in kerala by chopping hand of professor. We are not at all interested what happened in other places. We are much concentrating on south india..once called cradle of educational institutions.

Shanu ...you are bit tooo Harsh on him. think of your college(PPC) days. Of course i condemn hitting the the principal. Now that you are saying totally finish his life ? let law decide. a young man might have lost his temper after going through lots of pain for not allowing him to appear for exams. Next time Principal will not take this kind of attendance shortage excuse. For one slap principal in hospital(Mike Tyson didnt hit him). While lots of comments to forgive him. Principal sounds negative from hospital bed. I know how Mangalore works. Politcs/Religon involved in everything. Hypocrites.

Just watch the video footage, without any provocation, he is tearing off the page of the attendance book..How arrogant he is. He needs to be disciplined and at the same time other students dare not to do it in the future.

I don't think religion has anything to do here. Most of the best schools and colleges are run and managed by Christians. Its true and cant be denied. We need to support these institutions. In my college days PPC we never ever hit our teachers or lecturers but surely we went on strike and police were involved. OUr protest and strike never went violent and it was always peaceful. Take care

By the way please mention your real name so that I recognise you and refresh my memories.

Well Done, now send him to Ballary Jail, so that he won't get Biryani from his house daily if lodged in Mangalore.
He ruined his future by showing utter disregard & disrespectful to his lecturers or to the Principal by daring to threaten them & assaulting in the end.
It shows his upbringing & family that has supported him from a long time without thinking what he might do in future instead of nipping his rude behavior when they could have.
Unless his parents are rich enough to support him in future he has ruined his own future & a curse by assaulting a Principal who is a religious Priest as well.
This person too will regret his acts but time won't be with him to amend his past like all the past students of different colleges too had dared to raise their hand against their own lecturers & suffered & learnt their lesson the hard way.
