Mangaluru: YCS hold samavesh at Padua College

Mangaluru, Oct 31: Young Catholic Students (YCS) of the episcopal city deanery held a samavesh on October 30 at Padua College auditorium. The event was attended by 105 students from 11 different parishes belonging to the episcopal deanery.

The inaugural function was presided over by Fr Alwin Serrao, principal, Padua Degree College. J R Lobo MLA, of the city's south constituency was chief guest. Fr Rupesh Madtha, director YCS/YSM Mangaluru diocese was guest of honour. Francis D’Cunha, headmaster of Padua High-school was resource person for the day.

The event titled DIRVIM-2016 was inaugurated by J R Lobo. He called on the students to cultivate leadership qualities in every field. He said that Catholic students are provided ample opportunities to develop their potential which they must use to develop their personality and become useful to society. The president said that EQ today takes prominence over IQ. IQ can only be developed by participating in group discussions in YCS cells.

After the inaugural ceremony, Francis D’Cunha, clarified the importance of being in YCS and how it aids in self learning. Fr Rupesh Madtha spoke about the importance of values like discipline, modesty, respect for elders, self-restraint and many more. Lavita D’Souza – president of YCS Mangalure diocese, Vincent Goveas vice president of Bendur parish, Dion Mascarenahas, deanery YCS president, Alwin D'Souza deanery YCS secretary, Robin Cuthino animator, Fr Ashwwin Cardoza deanery YCS director were present at the inauguration.
