Udupi, March 7: People in the country are yet to realize the significance of Ayurveda, said president of Alvas’s Education Foundation Dr M Mohan Alva here on Thursday March 6.

He was speaking at the valedictory of the world Ayurveda congress on obesity and related maladies organized by SDM College of Ayurveda. He also said that there is no doubt that ayurveda system of medicine would dominate the world but India has failed to recognize the importance of it while the western countries have realized its importance. In India neither the government nor the people are encouraging Ayurveda, he added. 

‘Vishwa Ayurveda Ratna’ award was presented to Kiran Vyas, R R Bhat, M S Baghel, M Mohan Alva and Vivek Shanbhag by chancellor of academic council of international academy of Ayuveda physicians Gurudeep Singh. On this occasion ‘Kayachiktsa Ratna Vishesha’ award presented to G Srinivasa Acharya and ‘Kashyap Ratna’ to U Shailaja.

Principal of SDM college of Ayurdeda in Udupi U N Prasad and principal of SDM college of Ayurveda in Hassan Prasanna N Rao were present on the occasion.
