Mangalore, Mar 7: ‘Konkani Lokotsav’ a show of folk arts, will be held at Pratibhoday Kalamandir at Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district on Sunday March 9.  It has jointly been organized by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Konkani Samanvay Committee, Honnavar.

Purushottam Bikku Mesta, noted folklore scholar from Kasarkod will inaugurate ‘Konkani Lokotsav’ at 10.30 am on Sunday.  R S Raikar Uppoche, former president Uttar Kannada zilla panchayat will be the chief guest of the occasion.  Fr John Rodrigues, parish priest of St Salvadore Church, Honnavar will be the guest of honour.  Eric Ozario, president of Karnataka Sahitya Academy, will preside over the programme. 

Suresh Thandel, local convener, Umesh Mesta, president of Konkani Samanvay Committee, S H Shivarudrappa, registrar of Konkani Sahitya Academy, will be present at the occasion.

The honourary awards of the Academy will be presented on the same occasion to Dr Gerald Pinto (Literature), Francis Fernandes Cascia (Konkani theatre) and Manjayya Shivu, Kimbri (Folklore).
