Mangalore, Mar 9: "Youngsters are increasingly getting attracted towards 'Indianness' in recent times," informed S Ganesh Rao, founder chairman of GR Education Trust in his inaugural address at the 'Siva Dance Festival 08,' organized by SIVA (Shivanatyam Institute of Visual Performing Arts), held here at the Town hall on Saturday March 8.
 
Terming dancers as "the messengers" of peace and harmony, Rao opined that invariably tension and conflicts will prevail in society, which needs to be countered effectively with the gifts of art and dance such as tolerance and patience.

 
Moreover, with regard to the intricacies of dance he said that perfection in dance is not something which can be achieved without any effort, it indeeds exceptional hard labour, he added.
 
With special reference to the encounter between the globalization and the ancient culture of India such as Bharatanatyam, Rao opined 'we need to take extra care at this juncture. We must be take care to see to that nothing is done to damage the ancient tradition, culture and customs while going along-with the changing trends.'he pointed out.
 
Harikrishna Punarooru, M Raghunath Shet of city's SL SHET Jewellers and Diamond House and PP Upadhya, senior general manager of MRPL were the chief guests on the occasion. Ullal Mohan Kumar and Chandrashekar Navada, dance teachers of Surya N Rao, artistic director of SIVA were honoured on the occasion.
