Bangalore, Mar 10: Tired of moving from one department to the other just to move your file? Burdened with the odd looks and irking nature of the employees in the government departments? Here is a new procedure which will lessen your all your burdens and worries.  The state government through the ambitious Karnataka State-wide Area Network (KSWAN) of Governor Rameshwar Thakoor has introduced the interlinking of government offices on internet. In all 3000 government departments will be interlinked on net through this pioneer project which is come as a sigh of relief to the people.

If the plan is materialized transfer of documents between different departments could be done within a short time through internet. It will also ensure better understanding and transparency between various departments.

It is said that 177 taluks and 29 districts’ different departments would be inter-connected and Vidhana Soudha will have access to these interlinks.  To monitor these intranet control rooms would be established in each taluk and district headquarters. Special feature of the programme is video conferencing through which anyone can have conferencing with the governor, chief minister, other ministers or any other officers. 

The members of the legislative assembly can supervise the developmental projects of their respective constituencies with the help of voice and video conferences.  They can even have direct access to statistics of various government departments.  The project will also enable the people to know the status of their application and the time required to sort it out.

Rs 126.64 crore pilot project is all set to take off in the next 4 months. The pre-launch testing and preparation will start from Friday March 14.  The running and maintenance of the entire project has been handed over to the private firms.
