B'lore: Mangalore's Aruna Kumari Wins Shiromani Award

Bangalore, Mar 10: Mangalorean Manipal Aruna Kumari has become the first blind veena artiste in the world to win the Indira Gandhi Mahila Shiromani Award 2008.

The award was presented at a glittering function held at Hotel AJ International, Bangalore on Saturday March 8 on the occasion of International Women's Day. The award was given away by Radhika of TV9 Ladies club fame.

Suresh  Jain, owner of Jhankar Music, Mars recording company and Silver recording was the chief guest.

Dr Ramesh Kamath coordinator, Prof V Shama Bhat and others were present on the occasion.
