Portuguese Sergio Conceicao confirmed as new coach of Porto

Lisbon, Jun 9 (IANS): Porto has announced the signing of Sergio Conceicao as the new coach of the Portuguese football club for the next two seasons.

Officials from Porto had already confirmed to Efe news agency that Conceicao was to meet club President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa on Thursday to be presented as the new coach if everything went well.

The Portuguese coach led Nantes in December, when they finished seventh in France's Ligue 1.

The new coach is faced with the challenge of acquiring the titles missed during the past four seasons at the Portuguese club.

Conceicao will succeed his compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo, who was fired after one season.
