After personal fight between two persons at Kalladka on May 26 worsened and gave rise to murder attempt on the same night at Melkar here, prohibitory orders under section 144 had been clamped. It was extended a number of times thereafter as two murders and several incidents of clashes happened thereafter. Additional director general of police, Alok Mohan, had to make two visits to the district and over a thousand policemen were posted here for two months from nearby districts. As of now, prohibitory orders continue within Mangaluru city commissionerate limits till August 7. The taluk is free from prohibitory orders since July 28.

During the above period, murder attempt on Pavan had happened at Melkar, while auto driver, Ashraf, was killed later at Benjanapadavu. RSS activist, Sharath Madiwala, was murdered thereafter at B C Road. Although murder accused in Ashraf case have been arrested, the other accused have succeeded in evading arrest so far. Both these murders had happened in the same style and police guess that both of them were the handiwork of the same gang, which has not left behind any clue.

Hope all concerned have learnt that 'violence & enmity' never pay. It's time to forget the unfortunate incidents of the past, and move on.

Irrespective of any party affiliations, We need to ask the leadership . Why is the law and order system so wrecked up in Mlore ? Murders rampant and gone scott free, Police has no clue. Violence in Bantwal for months now. Why? Kavya murder? No arrests, Whats the solution. ?How will common man trust the police now ? if they do not have any clue? Its soo bad. Never was it like this. The District in charge has to be pulled up and held responsible. But he is dreaming of the home minister role. Come on!!
