Kasargod, Aug 28: A local youth organization has decided to question the action of railway department in totally stopping operation of Kannur-Byndoor train service without any advance notice, in court.

This train had found mention in the time time table of trains on Konkan route between June 10 and October 31. But the train was taken off the schedule all of a sudden. Initially the movement of this train was cut short to Mangaluru Junction station citing repair work on railway track at Padil-Jokatte section, from May 9 onward. After the repair work was attended, the train moved between these two points for a couple of days before abruptly stopping operations.

Mangaluru-Margao train which was also suspended along with Kannur-Byndoor train for track repairs, resumed its operations but the train to Byndoor is not undertaking its trips. There is no explanation why this train was stopped although its revenue was more than Mangaluru-Margao train. All India Youth Federation, a sister concern of CPM, had expressed anger at the stoppage of this train and submitted memorandums to MP, divisional manager of railways and district in-charge minister. As there is no clarity as yet, it has decided to approach court.

Many feel that the time table of the said train was a problem as it began its journey from Kannur at 4.15 am. The department was requested many a time to change the timing but this did not happen. Federation's district committee president, Mukesh Balakrishnan, says that his organization will move court with a plea to issue instruction to railways to revive movement of the said train with revised time table as per people's demand.
