Kundapur, Aug 29: A woman who was in agony after the untimely deaths of her husband and two sons in front of her eyes a year back, hanged herself at her home on Monday August 28. The incident happened at Airbail in Siddapur in the taluk, and family members confirmed that the woman was in grief since a year.

Jyothi Kini (33), resident of Airbail, Siddapur, ended her life in this way. A case relating to the incident was filed in Shankarnarayana police station.

On May 11 last year, Jyothi's children, Prakash (14) and Yogeesh (13),who had worked in the farm and played, had approached a pond by the side of their farm for washing clothes. Both of them slipped and drowned in the pond. Their father, Raghavendra Kini (44), who watched his sons drowning, jumped into water to rescue them, but found that both his children had died by then. Shocked at this incident, Kini suffered heart attack and breathed his last.

Jyothi, who was shaken by this violent jolt, was in a state of shock. She recovered a little by the support provided by her parents, Pandurang and Prema Kamath, and relatives. She used to shed tears everyday at the sudden loss of husband and children. Locals say that her determination to help her parents in their old age had stopped her from taking any extreme steps so far. They said that Jyothi had asked people to cremate her body along with things and clothes belonging to her children and husband in case she dies.

Relatives said that the lady had actively taken part in Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations and was in good spirits on Sunday. Unexpectedly, the parents saw to their dismay on Monday morning that their daughter had hanged herself. The poor family now is left only with two aged souls, who are destined to grieve the deaths of their close ones during the rest of their lives.

I can just say when grief strikes no body is there to help. Here is a lady who wanted to lead a good life, but how cruel the destiny is. How long she can depend on relatives and friends for help. She was forced to cut short her life even though she wanted to live long. Feeling so sad for this family.
