Udupi: Cotton laden truck catches fire in Brahmavar, gutted

Udupi, Aug 29: A truck laden with cotton plying from Hassan to Salmara caught fire at Salmara near Uppoora on Wednesday morning August 29.

The cotton was being transported in an Eicher vehicle belonging to Rais Ahmed. The fire occurred due to a short circuit when the vehicle came in contact with a live wire passing on the road. The truck is completely gutted in the fire. Driver Somanna has escaped unhurt.

Brahmavar station police and fire brigade staff extinguished the fire. A case is registered at Brahmavar police station.
