Mangalore: Hooch Tragedy - Three from Hassan in District Hospital

Magalore, May 24: Three persons belonging to Hassan district, who fell seriously ill after consuming spurious liquor, were rushed to the city on Friday May 23 and admitted to the government Wenlock Hospital here. They are being treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

It is said that the patients Manjaiah (40), Indrakumar (40) and Muthamma (30) from Boomarahalli in Sakleshpur taluk, had consumed hooch before partaking the feast organized in their village in connection with a marriage. They reportedly fell seriously ill thereafter and some of their relatives who were fatally affected by the drink died before they could be properly treated.

Reportedly, the hooch they consumed was supplied by one Mahesh from Valalahalli village in their neighbourhood. Sources said that Mahesh has been arrested in Hassan following a joint operation involving police and excise officials.
