Mangaluru: Under-trial prisoner succumbs to illness

Mangaluru,Aug 31: An under-trial prisoner lodged in the district prison here, breathed his last at district Wenlock Hospital in the city on Wednesday August 30.

The deceased has been identified as Shivappa (47) from Sullia. He was suffering from heart-related ailments. For treatment, he had been admitted into Wenlock Hospital but the treatment given to him failed to improve his condition.

Shivappa had been arrested in 2016 on the allegation of raping his daughter. A case about his death was registered at Pandeshwar police station.
