Udupi: ICYM Youth Festival in Shirva from May 26

Udupi, May 25: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) will be organising Youth Festival-2008 from May 26 to 28 at Shirva church premises, informed ICYM Udupi District Committee President Michael Rodrigues here on Friday. 
 
Speaking at a press conference, he said that the festival is a confluence of the youths belonging to the community and will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Labour Oscar Fernandes.
As many as 600 youths from the State’s eleven Catholic diocese — Mangalore, Bangalore, Belgaum, Shimoga, Mysore, Bhadravathi, Gulburga, Bellary, Belthangadi, Karvar and Chikmagalur — will attend the convention.

Mangalore Diocese Bishop Dr Aloysius D’Souza will preside over the function.
Mother Superior of Goratti Convent in Kalyanpur Sr Melaniya will hoist the national flag on May 26 while former Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat will inaugurate the “March for harmony” by the youths at Shirva on May 27.

Udupi District Committee Director Peter Pinto, Women Wing President Sr Adriyan and others were present.
