Kasargod: Youth trying to pick ball drowns in sea

Kasargod, Sep 4: A young man who went to pick a ball that had fallen into the sea was washed away by huge waves. This incident happened at Mogral near Kumble in the district on the evening of Saturday September 2.

The youth who went missing in this way was Abdul Khaleel (22), son of Mohiuddin-Khadeeja couple from Mogral Koppal.

After they came to know about this incident, locals rushed to the spot. Kumble police circle inspector, Manoj, additional sub-inspector, Babu Thomas, and other police personnel reached the spot and undertook rescue operation. But they did not succeed in their efforts.

The search operation was abandoned at midnight on Saturday. The search resumed on Sunday morning. A boat of fisheries department was used for search operations on Sunday.

Abdul Khaleel, working for a ship at Ernakulam, had come home a few days back for celebrating Bakrid. He was to return to Ernakulam after Onam festival.
