Mangaluru, Sep 5: Mayor Kavita Sanil, on Tuesday September 5, urged people to collect the completion certificate from builders before occupying their flats.
She further said, "Usually people, who are willing to buy flats, occupy them without obtaining the completion certificate. This will create problems for the occupants of the flat while selling the flats to the second party. Once the occupants occupy the flats it is difficult to avail the completion certificate. It is also noted that no basic amenities in the flats such as sewage treatment plan, and proper drainage connections are in place. There are temporary base water connections are set up. Due to this, the amount of water bill gets doubled."

She also said, "People need to be aware of these cases, and must collect completion certificate to avoid further complications”.
About the pending water bills, mayor Sanil said, "A total of Rs 14,69,33,222 crore worth pending water bills have been collected in the month of August from 52,767 consumers. If the rest of the consumers fail to pay the amount by September 11, the water connection will be disconnected."
When asked about land acquisition for Thumbay dam, Kavita Sanil said, "It is in progress. As much as Rs seven cr have been released so far. Survey of 8 meters has already been completed. The remaining survey will be completed in 15 days."
Deputy mayor Rajaneesh, MCC chief whip Shashidhar Hegde, MCC commissioner M Nazeer and others were present.
