Kasargod, Sep 8: A first year LLB course student, who had been to a pond at Udayagiri Nelkala near Vidyanagar to swim, drowned on Thursday September 7 evening.
The victim has been identified as Sunil Kumar (25), resident of Maitri Colony, Chettanguli.
On Thursday evening, Sunil had gone to the said pond with two of his friends to swim. While swimming in the pond, Sunil Kumar suddenly disappeared. Although his friends frantically searched for him, they could not locate him. Locals who were informed of the tragedy, also tried their hand at finding out the missing student.
Fire brigade personnel, who were informed of the incident, came there. After intensive search, they managed to find the body of Sunil Kumar and bring it out. The pond in question is quite big and deep.
Personnel of Vidyanagar station here have registered a case of unnatural death. Investigation is on.
