Beltangady: Woman commits suicide by jumping into pond

Beltangady, Sep 11: A woman ended her life by jumping into a pond on Sunday September  10. The victim has been identified as Savita (36), wife of Babu Devadiga from Kettigudde near Punjalkatte in the taluk.

It is learnt that Savita was frustrated at the nagging ill health of her two children, whose condition did not improve even after prolonged treatment. Unable to handle this agony, she is believed to have committed suicide. Savita had gone to bed after dinner along with other family members. However, on Sunday morning, Savita's husband found that his wife was not at home. During search operation, footwear of the lady were found near the pond. The locals then called the police. During the search conducted thereafter, the body of the woman was found.

After postmortem was conducted at the community health centre here, some additional tests were conducted at government hospital at Mangaluru.

Punjalkatte police registered a case. The deceased is survived by husband and two sons.
