Udupi: MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurates development works in council limits

Udupi, Sep 13: “The finance department has approved the proposal sent through the water board to the state government for Rs 69 crore worth projects to provide permanent solution for drinking water problems in Kaup council limits and surrounding places. Only cabinet approval is pending from water board,” informed Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was speaking after inaugurating Rs 3 crore worth 58 works and laying foundation stone for ten works worth Rs 5 crore in Kaup municipal council limits on September 12.

“Nearly Rs 70 crore worth works are implemented in the council limits. The developments will be implemented by spending Rs 8.5 crore for footpaths, Rs 10 crore under Nagarothana project, and Rs 5 crore from chief minister’s special funds. Developments work in council limits will be done utilizing Rs 120 crore funds,” he said.

'I am ready for open discussion'

“BJP said that the funds received for Kaup municipal council are not as expected and that I am confined only to make statements. I condemn this statement from the opposition.

Those who make allegations will continue doing so as that is the only work they do. I am prepared for an open discussion regarding development as told by BJP,” he said.

Kaup municipal council president Soumya Sanjiva, vice-president H Usman, chief official in the council, Rayappa, council members, fisheries development federation director Deepak Kumar Ermal, officials of different departments and contractors were present.
