Mangaluru: Gold ornaments worth Rs 14 lac stolen

Mangaluru, Sep 13: Thieves who entered the house of Muhammed Iqbal residing at Church Road, Kuppepadavu near Bajpe on the night of Monday September 11, made good their escape with gold ornaments worth about Rs 14 lac. Iqbal filed a complaint in this regard at Bajpe polie station on Tuesday morning.

The complainant said that he heard footsteps between 2 and  3 am on Tuesday. When he got up and checked, the thief had already fled. He said he then went to the bedroom of his sister-in-law, Nazia, and found that 73 sovereigns of gold ornaments kept in the cupboard had been stolen. Reportedly the thieves entered the house by opening the window in the rear side of the house.

Finger print experts, sniffer dogs, and Bajpe police visited the spot and collected material. It is gathered that about a hundred people had gathered inside the house before the police came, which created problems for the investigating officials, sniffer dogs, and finger print experts.
