Udupi, Sep 13: Catholic Sabha, here on Wednesday, September 13, submitted an appeal to the chief minister, condemning the recent murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh and urged to arrest and punish the killers immediately.

“The murder of Gauri Lankesh who was a social thinker and who responded to the pains of downtrodden in the society, is condemnable. The end of a person who was helping the government to bring Naxalites to the mainstream and was boldly protesting injustice has made the society bow its head in shame. She was a sister to the poor, mother to the exploited and an awakening to the society, with her noble ideas. It is shocking that the voice of such a person has come to an end and in this manner. Therefore the killers should be arrested and punished immediately,  followed by measures to prevent such incidents in the future,” they stated in the appeal..

Catholic Sabha Udupi diocese president Valerian R Fernandes, secretary Jacintha Colaco, Udupi zonal president Mary D' Souza, office bearers Maxim D'Souza, Marita Louis, Luke D'Souza, Philip D'Lima, Joseph Rebello and Vincent Crasta were present.
