Bengaluru: Scotland Yard officials helping police in Gauri Lankesh murder probe

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 15: The special investigating team (SIT) formed to probe murder of journalist, Gauri Lankesh, has been trying to achieve progress in the investigation by working from several angles. Now they are making an efort to find out details of people from the city having country made pistols with 7.65 mm bore, in a bid to identify the culprits involved with this murder.

It is gathered that two senior Scotland Yard officials have arrived to help the SIT in its probe. These two officials, who reportedly have expertise in technical investigation, came here on Wednesday. They have been provided with all the details about the case, investigation undertaken so far, and progress made. It is said that these officials are in possession of advanced software and they can help in providing high quality technical assistance including making CCTV footage obtained in this case visible with better clarity.

As per information, criminal investigation department has also summoned help from Scotland Yard in an effort to crack murder case of Prof Kalburgi. They are hopeful that these officials would be able to help them to reach to a logical conclusion in the case.

Illegal arms traders

The SIT in the meantime, wants to question illegal arms traders and rowdy sheeters towards its effort to zero in on the culprits involved with the murder. A few people who already are in judicial custody relating to use of illegal arms would also be interrogated in an effort to elicit more information. They believe killers of Gauri would have procured pistol from either rowdy sheeters or illegal arms dealers. It is learnt that 7.65 mm pistols are used by most of the criminals in the state because of easy availability of ammunition. Police have so far been able to trace 15 out of 26 pistols which were sold as per the information of dealers.

Police said they have already visited lodges in the city to collect information about people who hired rooms before September 5 and checked out on that day. A cellphone recovered near Gauri's house was handed over to forensic science laboratory for examination.

The SIT has recorded statements of some former Naxals. They also questioned real estate agent, Arun, who reportedly pressurized Indira Lankesh to sell the land she owned at Nelamangala to him.

New lead

The police have also succeeded in tracing a man and a woman who were with Gauri Lankesh from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm on the fateful day of her murder, after which she had left for home. The duo along with Gauri had partied at the Patrike office, it is gathered. The two have been identified as Madhu from Lingarajapuram and Kalpana from Hennur. Sources said that the two, who are out of the city, will appear before SIT on Saturday to record their statements. Both Madhu and Kalpana had not informed the police that they were with Gauri on that day until the police found this out through telephone records.

The newspaper reports had mentioned that the time late Gowri Lankesh left her office for home was not the usual time and that when she reached home at the not so usual time the assassins were waiting for her. This means someone had tipped the assassins when she left her office - either someone from her office or in its vicinity or some one who had been with her .May be the the police should examine this angle and track the telephone/mobile calls originating from the area of her office on that unfortunate evening

things are getting too complicated...Its simple common sense.....No rocket signs...for e.g. world knows who were the people behind 9/11. what is the motive. world came to the name of the people ....but motive & the people who gave the contract ...still world is investigating in all angles. Hope this will not be that story....give time for SIT. Gauri deserves Justice. this kind of killings should stop.

The investigation is getting to much biased in the lines of kalbugri murder. Very fact the best of the team not able to get any lead in the case due to very sophisticated killer who knows how system works and how to get away after doing crime without evidence! Well planned and well executed murder. I feel he is well trained or a ex officer who is radicalised ? Anyone commits murder will not leave some or the other evidence . In these cases of Pansere, Dhabolkar, Kalburgi and now Gouri so much similarities.

    Few questions remain unanswered are:-
    1. Why did she keep cctv password protected?
    2. Why did she return home 2hrs early?

That means probably she hired her own killers.

Mr. Sandesh hope you had studied basic economics. Some points to note:
    1. Japan has negative rate of interest so the 0.1% interest that it is earning is more than what japanese banks charge for loans- clear win-win situation for japanese.
    2. The loan is in Japanese Yen and not in Indian rupees. So when u repay it after 15-20 years in EMI it will be repaid in Japanese Yen n not in ₹.
    3. 1 yen = 0.60 ₹. that means u need 60₹ to pay 100Yen. if the rate becomes say 1 yen = 0.75 ₹ then you need 75 ₹ to pay 100yen. all this when interest is 0%.
    4. Japan is a developed country with 0% inflation whereas India is a developing country with moderate to high inflation. even if we take an average of 3% inflation then the chances of 1Yen = 0.75 ₹ are more. so we will end up paying around 10-15% more.
    5. There may be an argument of hedging currency risks. but it doesnt come free. they charge around 4% for the amount involved.

So this soft loan theory is just to fool the gullible people.

This is a 50 year repayment loan. In 1982, that is 35 years back, US$ was eq. to Rs. 8. Today it is 66. 800% appreciation. During this period, Yen has appreciated 50% against US $. That means, if I had taken a Yen loan in 1982, today, I would be paying @12 rupees against one rupee loan.

Yen being hard currency, it will not depreciate against US $. The Rupee may not depreciate at the earlier speed, but if US $ appreciates in the next 50 years to whatever level, Yen value being same, India has to pay through it's nose. Hence, what you wrote here is a reality.
