Tourism dept sanctions Rs 2 cr suspension bridge to Ganesh Falls in Uttara Kannada

Bengaluru, Nov 3: Karnataka Tourism Department has sanctioned Rs 2 crore for constructing a suspension bridge over Ganesh Falls that will connect Sirsi Siddapur and Yellapur Assembly constituencies in Uttara Kannada.

While the spot already attracts a large number of tourists, the bridge promises to ensure, Ganesh Falls will become a popular tourist destination for nature tourism in Uttara Kannada district.

Local administration thanked KPCC General Secretary and former Chairman of Coastal Development Authority Nivedith Alva for obtaining administrative approval and prevailing upon the State Government to sanction the construction of the Hanging Bridge, which will help in providing a link to Sirsi and Yellapur taluks.

Alva, who visited the Jaddigadde village of Sirsi taluk recently and personally inspected the famous tourist attraction of Ganesh Falls in Sonagimane village, which comes under the Kodnagadde grama panchayat, was apprised by the local people about the long-felt need for the suspension bridge.

During his tenure as Chairman of Karnataka’s Coastal Development Authority, Nivedith Alva had also spearheaded the construction of a suspension bridge across the Gangavali River in Dongre, Ankola, Uttara Kannada and also planned and completed the 125-metre Sharavathi Suspension Bridge at Kudrugi near Honavar besides the suspension bridge over Phalguni river in Dakshina Kannada.
