Mangaluru, Nov 11: The two-day tournament organized by Mount Carmel Central School came to an end on Saturday November 11. The tournament received huge response with the participation of 39 teams from various schools. The winners who played with pride, enthusiasm and gusto to win and nothing less were waiting to bag the trophy.

Naveen Shetty, president of Mangalore Basketball, was the chief guest for the valedictory function. The principal introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. The chief guest, a basketball player right from his school days wished that Mount Carmel continued this practice of conducting inter School basketball tournament for young spirited students to grow in their sportive spirit.

The tournament officials and the scorers were appreciated for their service on both the days of the tournament.

The winning teams were honoured with a trophy, cash prize and individual trophies:

Junior Girls : Winners - St Agnes CBSE School
Runner Up - Mount Carmel Central School
Junior Boys : Winners - St. Aloysius School
Runner Up - Mount Carmel Central School
Senior Girls: Winners - Manipal School
Runner Up - Lourdes Central School
Senior Boys: Winners - Cambridge School
Runner Up - Presidency School

Under each category, the Best Players trophy was given to the following players:

Junior Girls : Michelle Nikitha Rodrigues – Mount Carmel Central School
Junior Boys : Shreyas K. – Mount Carmel Central School
Senior Girls : Rashi Shetty – Manipal School
Senior Boys : Ayush Shetty – Cambridge School

Zanet D’Souza compered the programme while Sunitha T delivered the vote of thanks.
