Sullia: Married woman hangs self - father alleges harassment by husband

Sullia, Nov 13: Ramya (24), wife of Vasanth Gowda, residing at Poojary House in Kolthige village within the limits of Bellare police station in the taluk hanged herself at her home on Saturday November 11.

The woman, it is learnt, was suffering from a psychological disorder and was under the treatment of a psychiatrist from Mangaluru. She was frustrated at the fact that prolonged treatment had not brought about any improvement in her condition. In a complaint given to Bellare police station, members of her husband's family said that she ended her life because of frustration over her ailment.

On the other hand, father of Ramya, Kalmadka Radhakrishna Gowda, in his police complaint, accused his son-in-law of harassing his daughter and alleged that being unable to bear with this harassment, his daughter committed suicide.

Ramya had married Vasanth Gowda on December 29, 2014. She has left behind a five-month-old male baby. Tahsildar of the taluk visited the spot. A case was registered at the Bellare police station.
