Road safety in India is appalling .The truth is.. we all have a casual attitude ..never want to follow rules which is there for our safety ..added to that is the bad roads and low class planning ..
We all blame the politicians ..never owning any responsibility to become a good and Rule abiding citizens.

This is everyday news. Since many years cars, busses, two wheelers hit the partked lorries. Lories always parked on the highway and while coming from far they are not seen.

But RTO officers if one drunk and meets accidents next day full of police to check the drivers. If one will not wear helmet and dies then next day full of fine for riders who do not wear helmets.

But these lories like yama in India. They take many lives but no fear. Police are not bothered may be thinking it belong s to central department (Delhi)

If we ride Mangalore city there will be many big big cars in the centre of the road parking and disappear for hours together. They also know this is the duty of central department and not local. They are free to park anywhere.

yesterday only I saw a lorry parked on the Kuloor flyover , just parked with out any indicator. I was saying to my friend about this and was saying any long driving vehicle may bang it. It must be similar situation. Heavy vehicles are found parked road side always ... from surathkal to Nanthoor . We all get to see this, but authorities ( RTO / Police ) don't get to see anything wrong like these... or they act blind letting such innocent lives to depart to heaven. No idea...

It is allowed only in India to park Heavy Vehicles on Highway or just adjacent to Highway inviting more fatal accidents.
Even in Pakistan Srilanka, Bangladesh not allowed.

Parking of heavy trucks or any vehicles on road instead of away from highways causes these accidents in night time as most of them lack even reflectors or warning lights when parked on the road blocking traffic.
Heavy Penalty should be imposed on the erring drivers to prevent these accidents.
On village roads slow moving tractors with their trailers cause the same type of accidents too.
Time to stop these unnecessary loss of human life & limbs this tragic way.

Rather than blaming the cars and roads of Mangalore, it can be better if u consider the human error into aspect.

You have no idea where has technology regarding safety has reached. If it was an ambassador or a fiat car then the consequences would have been much more severe since they were built by thick metal but no planning on safety.

All cars now come with crumple zones which absorb the impact and if the impact is more severe it reaches the occupants. Earlier cars if there is a collision. The driver is first hit by the steering rod on his chest and All occupants would have ended up with multiple fractures. If both Korean car and ambassador are driven on same speeds and had a impact, you could make out the difference. It's a fashion or a slang just to say earlier cars were better and strong. There is a difference
