Mangalore: Atul's Release May Take a Few More Days

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Sep 5: Although the state High Court has granted bail to Atul Rao, prime accused in the case relating to the disappearance and death of Padmapriya, wife of Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat on Tuesday September 2, his actual release may take a couple of days more.

As Wednesday was a holiday, the concerned could collect the copy of the court order on Thursday September 4. This copy has to be brought to Udupi and presented in the sessions court there. Thereafter, it needs to be forwarded to the in-charge of Mangalore sub-jail. From the sub-jail, the order will go to Atul who is recuperating at Sanjeevini Hospital here.

Eshwar Nayak, in-charge of the sub-jail here said that he has not received the bail order. Atul's wife Meera Rao has said that Atul might not return home immediately. The treatment for Atul's backache is continuing and it will take three more weeks for the Ayurvedic treatment being given to him to complete all procedures. He will come back only thereafter, she said.

The media has given sufficient coverage to prove that Atul is a scapegoat in the whole story. It is also clear that it is only because of political pressure that he is arrested and remains in custody without bail for months together even though he was not present in Delhi while the death occurred. The police have mentioned that Atul was with police at the time of suicide.

The police have to make fabricated stories to keep Atul behind bars. But on the other hand he is safe in custody of the police. One can imagine what can happen to a common man when he becomes a prey in the hands of political power. Let us wish all success to him and his lawyers to fight against injustice and corrupt political regime which has framed the whole case.

A very sorry state of affair for Mr atul. Please give him a bail and give him an opportunity to prove that he is not guilty. A man cant be a criminal unless he is proved to be so in the court. Mere charging anyone doesnt make him a culprit. Mr Atul has a fundamental right to justice and he must be given a fair trial.
