Vijayapura: Electoral staff dies of heart attack during election duty

Vijayapura, May 12: In a tragic incident which  happened in Sainik School premises here on Friday May 11, Vittal Kurle (52), 'D' group employee of the city corporation here, suffered heart attack and lost his life.

Kurle had been deployed on election duty. At around 12 pm on Friday, he was unloading electoral materials from the vehicle when he suddenly collapsed. Although an ambulance was summoned and he was rushed to the district hospital, he breathed his last on the way. A case about this incident was filed in Gandhi Chowk police station here.

Three suspended: In the meanwhile, deputy commissioner and electoral officer of the district, S B Shettennavar, has ordered suspension of three employees for dereliction of election duty. The three employees concerned were vested with the responsibility of filling  fuel into vehicles which were to be dispatched to polling centres but they failed to attend to the work, it is gathered.
