Ramanagara: Death during election duty - compensation disbursed

Ramanagara, May 12: A cheque representing compensation amount of Rs 20 lac was disbursed to the family of police constable, S Mahalingaiah (36),who was killed in an accident when posted on election duty at the check post set up in Hejjala village in the district on account of assembly election to enforce election code of conduct.

The proposal put up as per the government order seeking sanction of compensation amount to the family of Mahalingaiah was scrutinized by the state chief electoral officer, Sanjiv Kumar. He accordingly sanctioned a compensation of Rs 20 lac to the said family.

Sanjiv Kumar personally went to Doddanahalli village in Channapatna taluk, which happens to be the native place of Mahalingaiah, along with district electoral officer, Capt Dr K Rajendra, election observer, Parimal Singh, district superintendent of police, B Ramesh, and others. He consoled the family of the deceased constable and told them that steps have already been taken to provide job on compassionate grounds to the kin of the deceased employee.
