BJP candidate Sriramulu worships cow before voting

Ballari (Karnataka), May 12 (IANS:) BJP candidate B Sriramulu on Saturday worshipped a cow and then visited temples before voting in the Karnataka Assembly election.

Sriramulu is contesting from two seats -- Badami in Bagalkot and Molakalamuru (reserved) in Chitradurga district.

"He (Sriramulu) performed 'gau puja' at his residence in Ballari for nearly one hour and then visited two temples before casting his vote," a Bharatiya Janata Party leader told IANS.

Sriramulu is contesting against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Badami. The 47-year-old was the state's Health and Family Welfare and Tourism Minister from 2008-11.

He quit the BJP and the cabinet in 2011 protesting against the alleged ill-treatment by the party to his friend, mentor and then cabinet minister and mining baron G. Janardhan Reddy.

There are only a few reasons why this can happen. Either lack of literacy or lack of respect for Religion. Religion is food for your heart and soul, your inner spirit and it is personal - same as food for the body to sustain good health, growth and stability. A true religious person always practices his religion within the walls of his home. If any one is demonstrating his faith - it is fake. I mean - it applies to all religions. People refuse to understand - if God were to be many, each creation would have had different colour of blood, differ type of organs ..no one would have looked like humans. Because the creator is one, we are all made equal in looks, biology and chemistry. God is everywhere and in everything; therefore, we must keep religious practice a personal thing and rather show compassion, love towards our fellow citizens in times of sickness, need and troubles & tribulations. Why can't we be one INDIAN nation irrespective of different ways and Forms of BELIEF - yet having faith in one God, ONE CREATOR. India has survived thousands of years of invasions; our faith has remain in tact. Then why we need to create artificial mode of faith.

    Alfa,

Your understanding of religion in terms of its origin, its trbalistic nature seems to be poor. God is not one. It simply can't be true just by going through religious texts. It does not matter what your interpretation is. Any person with little reading of their can point out that what you said is wrong.

Yes there would be peace if all people do their religious practice only within the four corners of the wall. But religion by their inherent nature are not meant to do that.

Dear Sriramulu,I have nothing against worshiping cows. But today Iwould have in your place instead of spending time with cows puja,go to a needy person and ask them if you could help himany way, that would bring you a more vote.On other days too nearer to poor is nearer to God you should practice.Think over it for next year/election.

But some of them are not sure, who will benefit them. They worship many and think that any one of them will help them.
